The magnolia has grown in prominence over the years because of its ability to look great when in flower and it smooth oval soft edge leaves which look like a slightly darker version of the frangipani leaves also the variety of flower shade’s especially the white flower is enjoyed from a visual perspective and seems from my observations to be the most popular in the Perth metro area. The magnolia is a rather varied species, there is deciduous and evergreen trees and shrubs.
The magnolia has been a favorite in a lot of people’s houses and in commercial area’s and will continue be on the top of a lot of people’s minds when it comes to choosing easy to look after small tree’s for their house. The cultivars of magnolia that encompass the small tree versions of this genus that are readily available around the Perth area such as the little gem, teddy bear, port wine magnolia all have their own different features that a individual may find attractive. For example the magnolia cultivar teddy bear is known for keeping its shape and not requiring pruning as much as other cultivars. The magnolia cultivar little gem is known predominantly for its white flower which has rectangular cones that can have bright yellow seeds. The magnolia port wine cultivar is known for having a strong scent to it, makes a great feature plant and can also be used for a hedge and is also slow growing.
Magnolias are available around the Perth metro area at most nurseries as they are a common plant that has been enjoyed from a visual perspective for a substantial period of time around coastal area’s such as the Perth metro area . There is new cultivars of magnolia that do come into production and the cultivars that I have mentioned are only a few of that are available. The magnolia is plant that as far as the effort to enjoyment ratio has a lot going for it. There is a lot of people around Perth that have magnolia’s in their house and they make a great small tree or medium size bush depending on the cultivar that the individual chooses or how the individual prunes them.
